Ride to Dorney Lake

START: Marlow town centre
DISTANCE: 10 miles or 20 miles there and back
DIFFICULTY: Easy

This is a great family A to B route that incorporates 4 different cycleways , and allows you to travel the 10
miles from Marlow to Dorney Lake with only 4 miles on roads, which are largely quiet. There is only one hill
(Winter Hill) at the beginning, and you get to experience riding through Maidenhead free from traffic. There
has been tremendous building work going on for 10 years which has led to the Strand water and York streams
being opened up and incorporated back into the town centre . As part of the rejuvenation it is hoped that boats
will soon be able to travel into the town centre from the Thames.

If you wanted to shorten the ride and have it almost exclusively off road then you could drive and park your
car near Lightlands Lane in Cookham Rise and start directly on the Cookham Cycleway. Once at Dorney Lake
you can either return the same way retracing your route or return back via the Jubilee River. I have described
returning by the Jubilee river at the end of the route description. Alternatively if you have young children
then ride it one way, enjoy riding round the lake and get someone to pick you up at the lake, there is plenty
of parking.
